I promised I'd stop writing these descriptions while depressed, but oh well, here goes
  • Added some extra details
  • Spawn rooms now usable
  • Fixed a few novice mistakes that should not have been published in the first place
  • Life is meaningless

Some sort of blend texture change would be good to indicate the former water line of the lake and give the floor some more contrast.

Generally try to get some colorful spots into the map. Everything is pretty gray at the moment. Maybe try a warmer environment light too.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I'd like to get the bloody thing tested before I do any more detailing

I really like the setting... I generally like industrial, abandoned and dead setting.

Loved the setting! However, I'd recommend you to rework the lightning inside the spawn buildings. There are very dark places there. Also, I'd say to spend some time with the spawnroom lighting, like making the doors and the resupply locker brighter to catch players' attention.

I've spent the last week reworking the map so that the sightlines are less atrocious. Mid and spawns are mostly the same but everything in between is gone. Unfortunately in redesigning I had to cut out the dry lake part, so I'll have to come up with another terrible name

OK so I took the original design, and rather than mirroring it through the center I rotated it and went from there. This was the result

Current problems include the slough of issues that come with having a main play area of 2368 by 1472. Somehow that didn't come up during planning stages. Most of the map I knocked out this afternoon, so lighting and design is shit. So much so that I'd feel bad about having it played at anything more notable than a nearly abandoned IMP in the middle of the night.

Also: Oh God help me! I'm relapsing back into Minecraft building!
As I mentioned, I knocked this out in an afternoon to see if the layout was worth continuing, and based on my, *shudders* tests with bots, I think it is

Update: I just remembered that Badlands exists.

Redesigned most of the map to be less like Badlands, but I ended up with Lakeside, so I redesigned again, and now it plays like Badlands and Lakeside mashed together, which at this point I am willing to count as progress

I plan to have a playable version ready for a gameday by this weekend. Tomorrow I will either begin the optimization process, or rebuild from the ground up, for lack of a better term, less shit

I'd like to either try out my cold desert theme, in which I'd rename the map to Salt Lake, Spire, or Utah, or I'd like to set the map on the tops of a series of adjacent buildings in an urban environment, in which case I'd call it Skyline, or something else I don't know can I go to bed now

I am a little embarrassed, on account of the rest of the map looking like ass

Any type of detailing is on hold until I can figure out what the hell kind of structure would have this layout

The map's reception was disheartening but not completely unforeseen.
I am pretty burned out of KOTH maps right now, having working on them for the better part of the past six months, discounting short excursions into CTF Skylight and my sad detail contest entrant
With this in mind I have decided to recycle this map's two ideas, the Mid and elevated spawn rooms, and add them to my collection of ideas. Hopefully, between this, the ideas in CTF Skylight, and about three months worth of doodles I will have enough ideas to make a competent 2CP Map
