How to prevent rockets/bombs going through a clip?

Hey folks,

I have an area in my map in which I don't want rockets/bombs being able to be fired over the wall - similar to the last round in Dustbowl.

Looking at Dustbowl in Hammer, I can't see what they're doing differently to me - as they have clip brushes in place, and so do I - but mine arent stopping the rockets/bombs - just the player (even though I'm using the same clip texture).

Any idea as to the trick behind this?

Cheers

a nodraw brush would block everything. And where in the last round of dustbowl are you talking about?

Old versions of Dustbowl didn't have proper clipping. Maybe your decompiled version is not up-to-date?

Nodraw brushes are an option, but probably not the best for this. If you're going to cut visibility (like Nodraw would), better use a Skybox texture, since it suppresses rockets without detonating them - a real advantage for this situation.

Alternatively, if you don't want to cut visibility, then use the Invisible texture.

Cheers for the answers folks! I'll likely give the invisible texture a run for its money.

I was referring to round 3 in dustbowl, just as Blu comes out of the gates. The building to their right, if they throw bombs over there - would land in the alleyway on the other side.

It appears I would have an out of date map decompile :)

Or you could just use the texture "Block Bullets" with the player clip. Don't use the skybox.

I heard that tools/blockbullets doesn't work properly in TF2 (I'm pretty sure I read it on this very forum). Hence the skybox. I did not test it though, so I could be wrong.

The invisible texture did what I was after. It remains to be seen whether sentries see through it!
