No draw_viewmodel on MM is really,REALLY stupid. It's not like i'm getting a HUGE advantage if I hide my model.

And I'm still waiting for a proper config for the game... Or at least BETTER optimization... Pyros don't lag me,that's really good. But I'm still getting horrible fps.
Now you actually are because forced viewmodel_fov 54 fills half of the screen

I just realized while trying to join passtime_brickyard for the achievement, there's no way to choose what map you play on now. I spent over half an hour waiting to get into a game, and when I realized it wasn't the right map I went to disconnect and realized that the game would disown me if I did that. So I spent all that time to be forced to play a match I didn't even want to play.

That's casual for you. Use the server browser for now
...and spend the same time searching for a server that runs your map without any additional dumbness, like instant respawn or RTD or worse, 18 bots, ads or "premium" stuff.

For fun, I let the server browser sit for a minute while it searched for every available server out there under 100 ping. Then I typed in pl_b (for pl_badwater). Out of the 1500 servers it found, I got 9 servers. 2 of them on Borneo (with the dumb stuff enabled), 4 of them running some other pl map with b in it (some goofy map, not a normal map) and the final 3 were Badwater maps. 1 empty, one an instant respawn ad-infestation from Saigns and 1 Skial 32-player server.

At this point the server browser is just as useless as the new "Quickplay", except not because it's buggy as fuck, or because it's implementation is crap, but because the servers inside are shite.

Here's a detailed breakdown of why I recommended you take a while to collect yourself

You seem so angry you're completely misrepresenting what I asked:
I can't be critical of Valve's way of making each update feel like a massive downgrade?
Why? Why should I accept the fact that Valve has made this game buggier with each update?
I did not say that you should change your views or that you're wrong. I didn't say that you can't be critical. You wrote a whole wall of text rebuking something that I never said.

The points you're making are all valid, yet the hyperbole and heated phrasing makes you seem like you're raging more than Bruce Banner on a bad day:
...entire fucking internet would've come down on them.
But nooooooooo, because Valve's apparently some kind of holy god I just have to accept it and move on?
...buggy mess of a game (if you can even call TF2 a "game"...
And I'm supposed to just let it happen and not complain about it "because it's Valve"? Not in a billion years.

Many TF2 related things suck but TF2 isn't worth the increased blood pressure you're probably suffering from this much negativity and anger

Seems like B4nny had too much influence on Valve... they're trying to make this game super serious for everyone. TF2 doesn't work like that. If Valve is smart, which they are, they'll give us real quickplay back. They added 2 competitive modes in this update, we only need one.

I agree sevin, after seeing both of his videos he generally has this opinion of casual "streamlining" the tf2 experience. The thing is, not everybody plays tf2 like this and enjoy popping in and out of pubs to do some market gardening or demo knighting. Casual is too serious for my taste, considering we have a competitive mode now.

Now if I want to play TF2 I either wait a long time for a stressful try-hard match, or play on one of the awful community servers that still exists. As of this update, I can't play TF2 in any capacity I'm interested in.

I don't think I'm exaggerating... killing quickplay like that is nuts. Strange feeling: I don't feel angry and therefore don't want to play. I feel like I want to play and can't.

Like someone said earlier, they should bring back all the Valve servers so you can play some quick-fast-full-of-f2p matches. Then keep this Casual mode for a semi-serious match. And then the competitive for the (obvious) serious matches.

I think that way everyone wins? Maybe?

Oh,and bring the "Create A Server" button back... I have to test/look at maps using the console. That's not fun either. :V

I feel bad for Scorpio, Phi, and Schwa. Great maps that won't get their fair shake (at least for the time being) by the community at large because of the shitty way in which we have to play them. Or not play them.

That button is useless, it's easier to invoke maps with the console. Plus, they didn't remove it. It's in with "find a game".

Hey @The Jill

I'd like to know your defenition of "neato". We (read: pretty much the majority of the TF2 community) are clearly not on the same page here.

Yeah I'm confused, looking in the main menu, is there no way to only play the update maps? I have to jump into normal matchmaking and get lucky?

Sidenote: I don't see the create server button there.

Yep. That's basically it.

And also, before I go to bed,I'll just copy-paste this image from the TF2 Reddit:

I'm confident that the long wait times to enter a game are going to be fixed soon, alleviating at least half the angst. All the various changes are hard to evaluate when the game's unplayable. It would be nice if every update didn't have this problem, but I understand why it does and it usually clears up in a day or two.

Correct. It was my understanding they didn't remove it, but maybe they did. I preserved it in my HUD, along with the rest of the old buttons.

Honestly, there are only two big issues with this update: the broken GC and the abandonment penalties. Fix those two things and Casual Mode will be fine.

Add the ability to accurately choose a gamemode/map, and Casual will be even better than before.

We also need to be able to join a game in-progress. Whenever we want. Leave without penalty. Pick a map we like at a location nearby. All the things quickplay already did.
