Is there any way to get rid off the skybox-sun?

at the moment i have 2 suns, one is the skybox sun, and the other a env_sun and a light_environment.
if i have to, i will positon the light_env so that it correlates with the skybox sun, but i would rather like to keep it at its current position, because i like the way the shadows fall.

any way out of this pretty pickle?

You can't change the position of the sun, as its built into the sky texture. You could make your own sky, thought that might be complicated.

If it's only a Z-angle problem, you could always make your own skybox by "strafing" the original. Or rotate your entire map (not recommended, Hammer sucks for anything that isn't square).

If you also want to fix a pitch issue, then you will have to modify the skybox texture with Photoshop or the like, which is going to be painful (I don't even know if that is possible, I am unable to properly use picture software for the life of me).

Or, you could use a sky that simply does not have a sun in it (sky_dustbowl_01, sky_tf2_04).

*bad swearword*
did they have to implement a sun into that skybox :(
*teethgrinding*

i´m quite expert with ps, but i´ll probably stick with that skybox and go with the standarts
i can´t choose another because i need that alpine setting

thx for the quick replies

You could always just make the env_sun match, but then not change your light environment. Not sure if people would notice the shadows going in the wrong direction :)

I believe that it's generally better not to use env_sun at all, as it has become more or less deprecated due to HDR.

Could you try photoshopping out the skybox sun, and create a new set of images? I'm guessing the left-hand one of those two is the skybox one, given the way the clouds are shadowed.
The only thing to be aware of is that the clouds might look a little odd if their highlights are on the opposite side from the sun, but that's just something you'd have to live with, and probably wouldn't be all that noticable anyway.
