Most of the time you can find the custom content used on the map's thread, if it isn't there check around the downloads section maybe it's there. But sometimes mappers have custom content made for their map only and don't release it for public use. If you are referring to the latter then contact the map author for the custom content.

EDIT: ctf_1fort_rc1 isn't on TF2maps.net, contact the map author.

GCFScape, but you may need permission to actually use whatever you extract.

When I try to extract content from a map with GCFscape, it gives a error message.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

Use BSPZIP for repack the bsp. You can use this batch (make a new copy of the bsp and drag&drop to the .bat):

Code:
@echo off
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin"
bspzip -repack %1
@pause

Thanks, this worked.

Hijacking this thread because I'm having issues finding the custom content for some old Operations maps in CS:GO. Many of them use custom content, and they all appear as missing in Hammer, so they are not in the game's base files. I opened them up in GCFScape but there's nothing inside besides the lumps; no custom content. How is this possible? They show up in-game so they must either be in the game files or packed, right?

There is a third option: the server having a separate list of files to download. But you'd notice that, the downloaded files are in plain sight.
