Anyone know what particle/dustmotes is used in the Portal elevator? I would like to use something similar. Here is a (hopefully) helpful picture of what I mean.

From the Level Design wiki:

"There are about three known particle effects that exist for this effect. Those three effects are:

  • portal_cleanser - The normal sized fizzler effect, however it is the only known one that exists.
  • Cleanser_edge_1 - A larger more messy effect, that is used for larger fizzlers, mainly this effect is only to be used at the fizzler's source.
  • Cleanser_edge_2 - Similar to Cleanser_edge_1 but goes out farther and is probably intended for extremely larger fizzlers."

Please be advised that a noticeable taste of blood is not part of any test protocol but is an unintended side effect of the Aperture Science Material Emancipation Grill, which may, in semi-rare cases, emancipate dental fillings, crowns, tooth enamel, and teeth.

You could decompile any map from the game and find the particle name in the info_particle_system entities near the fizzlers.
Or open one of portal's .pcf files and extract the name from there. It's probably the cleansers.pcf

EDIT: NINJA'd AGAIN

Also anyway to use the trigger_portal_clenser in tf2? Or something similar? Mostly I am not trying to use the actual entity but something that visually looks similar.

The entity has no looks. That's all the particle system.

All aesthetics aside, and I am going to simplify this, how do I put a trigger_portal_clenser in my tf2 map?
You don't.
This is an entity exclusively used by Portal's Source engine branch.
However, there are some complex workarounds to simulate the function of the fizzler, which I'm not going into.

Unless you somehow have portal guns in your tf2 map, I'm assuming you do in fact want the aesthetics, or looks of the field (the blue lines). Not 100% certain if portal particles will work in tf2 if packed in, but if not I'm sure you could make something for tf2 that looks close enough.
