This just in:

Those working on the classic badlands maps, get a move on! Likely Valve's new version will have significant departures from the classic style, though. Sounds like it will be a capture point map as opposed to CTF.

And also significant gameplay changes to the medic are coming...

Edit: Shacknews will have more detailed impressions of Badlands on Monday, according to their podcast.

So has anyone got any information on this 'gameplay shift'?
Or the other map?

Valve is also working on a new Hunted gameplay style / map.

Lots of speculation on the new gameplay feature. Ideas range from healing grenades (not a chance, imo), to the medic's ability to cancel an opposing medic's ueber with their own, to being able to ueber sentries (comedy option).

Hmm.. if it's something that will eventually apply to all classes... grenades? I was pretty sure they had ruled that out pretty definitively already, though.

...I almost didn't notice that link at the bottom of their article. That's mean :( (though increased publicity for us <_<)

Also, if this big thing is a core gameplay change that will effect everyone... why is it being rolled out a little at a time? Won't that mean that in the mean time the game will be unbalanced?

Depends on what "core gameplay" means I guess, I have no idea how they can justify releasing a game and then 6 months later changing "core gameplay" to me it sounds like they are trying to make it a new game or something, although I know it wont be a new game. I just hope it doesn't change too much, TF2 is great as it is.
I'm all against nades personally, My throwing arm is all weedy and non-accurate.

If they made a huge amount of gameplay changes all at once, players would flip. People would go nuts because of so much gameplay changes. If they do it a little at a time, so that no one hardly really notices each time it changes then players won't be so shocked at the gameplay changes. Think of it like this, you can bend a rock without breaking it if you bend it slowly enough.

As a player who masochistically plays the Medic all the time, I'm personally hoping for some type of anti-scout/pyro countermeasure. Preferably in the form of a nuclear warhead.

Yeah that would be sweet.

Burst healing! crazyhealybackpack steals half your max health (so you CAN suicide with it :D) and heals all nearby team mates for the same amount. I'd like that :p

I wonder if theyre gonna let the medicinject people with the herpes again...that would be sweet also. I dont think so though. Perhaps theyre gonna have crit healing?

I dunno, to be frank I play the medic constantly and hes well balanced. I think crit healing would overpower them. Theyre gonna do some kinda change to make people wanna play the medic. Dunno what itd be though =/
