It fragments threads that should otherwise be joined for continuity
It bumps threads that actually should be deleted
It happens over and over when people get something wrong in their submission, so we get empty, locked, duplicate threads.

Whatever it is that's causing new members to endlessly delete threads ought to be addressed so that they can amend their threads without the need to create new ones.

Not here to argue, but it should be pointed out that on the first page of the map factory, there is only 2 maps that are [deleted] and we really only ever saw it be a problem when someone mass-deleted their threads. So, I'm not too sure what this fragmentation is you see, as I'm not seeing it. There's a total of 6 [deleted] threads in the first 3 pages, with majority of them on page 3 (assuming you have the standard 25 threads per page). Thats not fragmentation, thats just 1 line being used up, which isn't that big of a deal.

The bumping, however, is definitely something that maybe we can look into. Hiding them from view probably would work best, so only staff get annoyed by it (and I don't think we're annoyed by it?) I'm not too sure if there is a reason to keep threads, maybe we should auto-hide them on deletion, and then make them visible again if needed. I think it's mostly to preserve links to that thread.

We can, once again review the steps on how to upload things to the downloads section.

By fragmentation I mean it splits a thread in two, old replies in one and new in another. Not that it divides up the forum.

It's not about the overwhelming quantity when I say over and over, I mean that it's been happening since the download system migration and didn't before.

A good solution would be for the automatic post that's added when it's deleted to just be snipped out. If the thread is left unlocked and the author wants to post a reason, they can, if not, the thread would just fade away.

However that doesn't address the root of the cause, which may be something in the way download threads are managed that isn't letting people change something? Or maybe once it's deleted, they're unable to edit that to add it back? Maybe the fact it locks automatically?
