I know for a fact that sd_doomsday sucks to its bones but how about the aesthetics? I haven't seen a lot of (in fact, none of) which uses the 'carnival' theme. What do you guys think? Can making another carnival map be great? (Without the cart, falling floor, and cart football)

A carnival-themed map would be great. I'd make one if I didn't keep forgetting that the carnival theme exists, since it's attached to a really boring map that was turned into a really annoying and unfun halloween map

I remember being underwhelmed by the amount of actual carnival stuff in it. Not counting the other dimension you get teleported to, which was the most elaborate Halloween map gimmick yet. The map proper had a handful of tents thrown over things and left the rest vanilla, which is kind of bizarre given the work that must have gone into the minigames.

You mean mini sentries right?

tbh we should make all event maps carnival themed :chord:
Already making one :)

Yeah. Also, the lack of props is significantly noticeable. There are like under 10 props that can be used in any given circumstances.

Don't forget the big button in the center of the map that could be used to have the giant hammer smash the group, knocking any players nearby into the air. But yeah, I feel like another cool mechanic added near the tickets would've rounded out the map nicely.

A lot of the decorative props are effectively unusable in other maps because they specifically meant for doomsday geometry or they're tremendously huge. Like, all the tent stuff for example.

And the hammer is one of those extremely distinctive props that immediately make players think of doomsday. Plus how many maps really need a giant hammer that's going to bash everyone that walks under it (in b4 @Crash says "All of them. All maps need this.")?

Overall just not enough usable content to make "carnival" a theme beyond what's already in doomsday imo.

Which is too bad... cause expanding that slightly into "island carnival" or "voodoo carnival" or even "amusement park" would all be awesome themes.

Pretty much the only non-Doomsday map I've seen really make use of those carnival props is Pier.
