Yaaaaaaay! If I didn't have a dissertation to write I'd be all over this. Hopefully GPit is next.

I really hope they get Highlander into MM soon. The addition of Gorge is promising but A/D modes generally aren't fantastic with lower playercounts. It'd be great to have 6v6 mm for koth and 5cp then highlander for A/D and PL. Here's hoping.

Still waiting on the day this and this and of course this gets fixed. And of course the horrendous memory management and crashes caused by said horrendous memory management on OS X. That has its 1 year anniversary of being in this game coming up next Friday, April 29th.

My guess is that Highlander will be added once matchmaking goes public, right now finding a good match with twelve players is hard enough as it is

Look at the first stress tests. Valve's servers were unable to handle the sheer amount of traffic, and that was just with 6v6.

Now imagine 18 people trying to hit a server at once, x all the people searching for a lobby. They'll need to redo the stress tests from the ground up since we're dealing with a substantial increase in player traffic per server. Still. There needs to be a way for people to know beforehand what people they'll have on their team and what people they'll be facing, as well as picking a map beforehand instead of the totally random guesswork we have to do now. Some integrated system like TF2Center has right now would work brilliantly.

If doomsday is no longer in the ctf rotation, capture crits are going to be back on every server. RIP sweet 45 minute stalemates.

I feel like Gravel Pit in 6s would be pretty awful in 6s, it would be almost impossible to defend both A and B and the defending team would just have to give one of them up right away.

Interestingly enough in this update Valve set up the HUD to support up to 12 players per team.
Personally I think I would prefer to see what I call "Big Team Matchmaking" instead of Highlander. The system would match 10-12 players of similar skill levels per team. In game there would be a class restriction of 2 per class. It would probably be easier to match 10-12 people per team with no class restrictions (until you're in game of course) then 9 per team with requiring 1 of each class, and it would be a matchmaking experience similar to pub play.

Back when it used to be in the competitive leagues (many moons ago), the usual tactic was to defend B and just sacrifice A, and just send some scouts to harras the attackers while they tried to take it and to prevent them attacking through C. It's quite fun in short bursts, imo.

Why would capture crits be off on account of Doomsday? Capturing in that map is an instant win anyway.

Doomsday has a sever command entity that turns off the crits, valve ctf servers have crits on until they load doomsday.

So they put a server command that does literally nothing but fuck up the server into their own map.

GG, Valve. GG.
