Custom Material Playerclips - Now metal stairs can sound metal after clipping them!

I got annoyed by fact that when you use clip textures, they have default footstep sounds, so I made my own playerclips!
This download contains 4 (four) additional flavours of tools/toolsplayerclip to use for your likings!
  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Glass
  • Snow
If you use it in your map please credit me.

Does the same thing happen for blockbullets? If so it would be cool to have it for that as well

Well, no, this particular download contains only toolsplayerclip, but tomorrow I'll expand this idea to toolsblockbullets and toonsnodraw

I wanted to make playerclip ones too, but the problem was that it was very buggy and the sounds ended up being basically completely random. I haven't tested it in a while so either Valve fixed that or this pack here actually doesn't work. Confirmation is needed.
Playerclips work, but are buggy (eg. brushes only with my textures cut vis for some reason)

So, I checked out your thing and here are the problems I have noticed:

1. You made it a .vpk. Only do that with content that replaces existing stuff. You aren't replacing anything. What the deal is? You can't pack custom content out of a .vpk, or at least I haven't seen any packers that can.

2. The vmts are missing "%playerclip" 1. This means that none of this is actually playerclips. It's basically just nodraw blocks.

3. The textures aren't showing in the material browser. Usually this happens when there are no mipmaps, but they do exist here. So my only gues is that hammer is not liking the DXT3 compression and demands DXT5 instead.

I didn't test the vis cutting property, but I can see why it's happening: Normally, "$translucent" 1 is supposed to stop vis cutting, but Valve broke it, so it does it anyways. The only way around that is by either adding "%compileDetail" 1 or telling everybody to func_detail it.
