Competitive Map Testing

So with competitive looming on the corner I think it would be smart to have a 6s server (12 players max) so we can test the maps capabilities when it comes to a 6s setting while game modes like symmetrical 5cp would not benefit much from this game modes like koth would benefit greatly from this. A prime example of koth benefiting from this would be koth_ashville a map that is far from a pub map it requires lots of communication to win a round on with this server we could make maps that work both in the pub setting and the matchmaking setting because the matchmaking will most likely a game of 6s that is more like a pub also continuing that I feel that valve will add payload as it is one of the most pub bits of tf2 to the rotation but only one stage payload maps because the multiple stage ones have too many choke points that are easy to control vs the single stage maps have lots of flank routes so to sum it up having this server would have a aura of feedback that would provide to both the competitive player and the pub player so maps don't end up requiring lots communication but enough to facilitate matchmaking. I am aware of server costs and other various things but its just a suggestion take it or leave it fight it or accept it your choice

TF2Maps.net is very much centered around testing in a pub environment, and comp players/mappers are somewhat of a minority here. If you want competitive testing then you'd be better off hanging out with the UGC/ETF2L crowd.

Also, please use commas and paragraphs so I can read your post without my eyeballs exploding

@phi was talking about potentially organizing something like that this year. I think it would be great, as I have a map I would love to get feedback on from a competitive standpoint, but there would need to be a way to filter out maps. We don't want players to feel they're wasting their time by playing a map that will never get to rc or even beta.

OK first of all if your the real grizzly berry that's fucking awesome second of all well it would be nice to have a balance of the two types of players so the map maker could make a entertaining map for both people as I said before still nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks this

I'm currently organizing inhouse organized competitive testing for tf2maps involving 6v6 and Highlander. I will reveal more information as time passes, but there will be a quality standard filter that will be enforced. It's fairly easy to set configs and player limits up, just requires organization - which I am doing.

It will be reserved for tf2maps players and not released into the competitive floodgates at first, so we can see how the pugs will go a little easier without having to worry about the potential for toxic players outside our community joining. There will be plenty of inhouse competitive feedback.

TF2Maps can provide competitive feedback if you gather the right groups of people together. I'm probably one of the most competitively connected individuals here, so it's fitting that I should put something like this together.
