(This may be irrelevant, but its a good way to share "those" moments)
I was recently going through all my old maps... and I came across a good idea poorly executed, a KotH map set in the artic, with blue arriving via boat and red defending via ice base. Back when I thought you could make a skybox both: A, level, and B, water would work *facepalm*. I had a thing for ice maps at one point, glad that I've moved to the desert (deserts and ice plains are my least favorite biomes of all time, lifeless and repetitive)

now I guess, give me flack for posting this... but I recently discovered, somehow the ultimate mapping resource got uninstalled (which I reinstalled right after I changed memory allocation for tf2). So I felt like sharing this mistake with the world... I'm gonna go sink myself in quicksand after this... *sits on pl_cooler* WHY HAVENT I FINISHED THIS... IM SO CLOSE

I HAVE NO REGRETS!!!

If I must be truthful, my biggest mapping regret in general would be cp_permafrost. Last Point is one of my proudest creations, but the rest... overscaled and poorly executed. I was also too wary to make big changes to the map. Here's a link for the interested. (I might salvage the map someday, who knows)

But do I regret it? Not at all! You live, you learn, you map, repeat.

Edit: Some screenshots.

Then you learnt it wrong. It's always been 'live, learn, map, repeat' for me. What universe do you come from? :chord:

my first map ever made that barely had any lighting, no clipping, the sky was just a big black metal box.
I scrapped it right after the first gameday

Brace yourselves.

My entry for the Grid detailing contest.

A CTF map made from non-colliding trucks that I manually drew clip brushes over. This was my first map ever back in 2009.

And who could forget koth_Kangaroo?

The legendary koth map featuring a giant wooden kangaroo. The control point is in its pouch.

I later reused it as point B for my entry into the Artpass contest. Try and imagine where in Mann Manor / Mountain Lab this is and honestly say that my version isn't better:

I'd have to say ctf_danktown. It used to be available on TF2Maps.net, but when we switched over I gladly left it to rot.

It was koth_danktown, but I threw a table on the roof of each spawn for the flags, removed the clipping on the roofs, and called it a day.

I made a map called koth_forest in which I spammed that one pine tree model all over the place. The point was on a bridge completely surrounded by deathpit, because of course it was.

Also I didn't know at the time that koth maps were supposed to be symmetrical. lol.

My first "map" like a year ago. It basically was two spawns with one door and raised control point. Whole map was approx 1500hu long and 750 wide

My first map was for the custom smash fortress gamemode. I wanted to do create a canyon in a desert with some plattforms....
well, I had the smart idea to put the entire map on a giantic displacement with power 4.

Had to redo a lot of the map. In the end, when I learned more about displacements and stuff it turned out okay for the gamemode's standarts but the first play testing was a disaster with horrible physics.
