I found one of my old maps and it kind of gave me this nostalgic feeling. It makes me want to give it another go and try to build the map I've always wanted to. Here is an image of the track layout I found.

Here was a rendering of it before I wound up losing it do to a hard drive crash.

What do you guys think so far and from what you can see do you think it would be worth it? It's been YEARS since I've used hammer, but I'm sure things haven't changed that much. I just want to see if there is any interest before I slam some time into it to try to remake what may have been my best map yet. It would be a payload map and possibly a 2-3 stage depending on how long the tests run for the original map. Let me know, thanks!

Hello old stranger.
That track in the top image looks like a bit longer than badwater? So maybe you should limit it to a single stage?
Beyond that my only comment is that it should be interesting to you not to anyone else.

From the screenshots, this looks like a fun map. I would love to test it on a game day whenever you get the first version done. However just like YM said, I think you should just do a single stage.

As the others said, single stage sounds good. The whole overarching visual theme looked good though, even in developmental textures, so i'd say definitely keep that. Just make sure your map is still well lit, of course :)

Thanks for the replies, it's much appreciated. I know there wasn't a ton to go off of, but now that I'm finally out of my MMO state, I'll have a lot of extra time on my hands and figured what better way to spend that than to come back and do one of my favorite past times. I know it's not going to be easy, I know I'm going to have to learn lots from the ground up again. But I do remember a key thing and that's optimization. Hopefully a lot of the older guides are still around to help me through it and hope to have something up in the near future!

I do see why a single stage would be best now, and I would have to agree. I was going for a very dark stormy type of level, but I don't know if that's something people would actually be interested in. The other idea I had was a flourishing oriental theme, but seeing as there aren't many resources out for that and my modeling and texturing ability as next to none. I might have to stick with the original and hope it catches on.
