[New mapper] Is this where I ask if someone wants to collab on a map?

I couldn't think of where this goes, so I put it here. I was wondering if anyone wanted to collaborate on a map for (obviously) tf2? Honeslty, I know how to work hammer about 80%. I'd appreciate any replies.

I wouldn't mind although I have a limited experience with mapping so far, that doesn't mean I'm bad though. Also, I honestly have never done a collab before and have no idea how to. What did you have in mind?

Well, I haven't figured out an idea JUST yet, but it has to do with the 72 Hour contest coming up soon.
Want me to add you on steam?

Maybe, I have my own Idea for the contest too. But I wouldn't mind helping a little. If things go well I'll add or follow you on steam or something like that for ease of communication.

If you want, you can add me on steam now, so it is easier.

Well.. Honestly, I think I'm just going to only do my own project this first time. I've never collabed on anything (or enter a contest) before and the Jam doesn't seem like a good place to start, especially with my own map I'll be working on aswell. I might try to do something like this sometime after however, after I have a bit more experience with mapping as a whole. Also, like I said I might help a little if I can and I'll try and give you feedback if you want.

It seems like everyone who wants to collaborate on something has already selected who they are working with...

If you want to set up a collaboration with someone, you can also post in the main thread for the Jam.
LeSwordFish has a very good point, pick a good idea your working with, and expand on it, then post about it on the winter jam's thread.
Make sure to include why people would want to collab with you, maybe your very nice, not a squeaker, great ideas, etc...

That's the problem. I'm no good when it comes to planning or coming up with ideas. I'm best at taking an idea given to me and making it happen. As for posting on the Winter 2015 Jam thread? I already posted a reply, but no one responded. Should I go ahead and start a new thread in the off topic category with the details and such?

Basically, I can't work alone and it seems that no one is open to the idea of a collaboration with a new mapper.

When I said I can't work alone, I meant that I cannot come up with ideas about a map. At least, I can't from scratch. If I had a starting idea, I can work from there.

Why not pick something up from the orphaned maps repository? I doubt you can use them for contests (correct me if i'm wrong), but you may be able to find something you like there. Practice makes perfect, and soon ideas will come to you no problem!

Ideas can be tricky, I know. Sometimes you don't need one - Just say "i'm making a KOTH map" or something - put a point down, and start building outward from that, let it grow as it comes. Alternatively, think of what changes you want to see in official maps, and make something like that - perhaps you want to see what badlands would have been like with more containers, or something.
