OFFICIAL TF2M STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS SPOILER BAN
17th of DECEMBER, 2015 to 1st of JANUARY, 2016

Hey guys,

Next week, Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens will release internationally. It is a highly anticipated film, and is expected to break the record of breaking all the records. Many people in this community have actively gone out of their way to avoid spoilers that may have been released/leaked via whatever means. They wish to go into the film completely blind.

As a community, we are going to respect that. There will be a 15 day Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoiler Ban on the forums, and in chat. If you wish to discuss the film, we ask that you do so in a private manner with people who have already seen the film or are okay with discussing spoilers. Anyone caught talking about (including, but not limited to) the film plot, it's characters, it's motives, potential sequels, or what color the droids are, in any capacity beyond (but not limited to) "It's great!" or "It's bad!" between the 17th of December, 2015 to January 1st, 2016 will be subject to an immediate kick from chat. Consistently talking about the film, after being told to stop or not, will result in a day or two or a ban until the 1st of January, depending on the severity.

Additionally, if someone starts to talk about the film, leading to potential spoilers, we ask that you do not add to the discussion. Instead, we ask that you politely ask the person to move their Star Wars discussion to a private discussion. If a discussion does not stop and you do not want to be spoiled, we ask that you leave the chatroom, and use the info_observer_bot pinging tools, to notify the staff of the discussion. You can do this by typing "staff" in chat. You can also individually ping some staff by saying their names.

Fanta will be setting up FANTABOT to issue warnings about potential spoilers when certain Star Wars keywords are mentioned in chat. We ask that you do not ignore these warnings.

We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to get out, see the film. When the ban at the start of the year ends, then you will be free to discuss the film. We just ask that if there is a large number of people in chat that don't want to hear about the film and are asking for the discussion to be moved elsewhere, that you (the ones doing the discussion) stop, and move elsewhere. Please be respectful of everyone in chat.

That all being said, I have made a Star Wars: The Force Awakens Megathread over in Offtopic. That is the only place where you will be able to actively and openly discuss the film, spoilers, etc. If you do not want to be spoiled, don't look in the thread!

Enjoy the film, but be respectful of everyone else! Don't ruin it for others just for laughs. You will be punished.

Star Wars spoiler ban is officially lifted, you can discuss star wars the force awake anywhere now, HOWEVER, threads that are titled spoilers, or not properly labeled as spoilers will result in a warning/kick where appropriate. Also, please be respectful of people who don't wish to be spoiled. Give them a chance to leave chat for a bit, or take it to private message.

Thank you everyone for your cooperation, we only had 1 instance (that I know of) of someone spoiling the film in chat. You were all totally awesome and respectful about it! A+ work.

I rewatched A New Hope yesterday and it reassured me a lot on TFA - one of the things that was rankling was the complete lack of information on the First Order, the Empire, The New Republic, etc, and ANH totally does that too - mentions of the senate and the old republic with no explanation whatsoever. I still don't like the namedropping as a storytelling deal, but it has persuaded me that its not a big deal.

And on a note, i have seen the movie with a few that didnt know the story of the old movies. They also liked the movie alot and didnt realy care about the lack of information. Everything you need to know is told anyway.

And i wasnt dissapointed about the movie aswel knowing the previous ones. And i was happy it mostly matches the 3 older movies in the way they used special effects. And also, the movie works well for 3d like most science fiction movies do that involve large spaceships etc.

Also, for the sake of it disallow (major) spoilers in this thread even though its not labeled so people can still gather general feedback that states if its good or bad without instantly facing spoilers. This thread is too sensitive for that.
