skybox error

Error: Skybox vtf files for skybox/sky_trainyard_01 weren't compiled with the same size texture and/or same flags!
Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_trainyard_01 to build the default cubemap!


thats the error i get whilst compiling, and i dont know how to fix it

fact is, i see the correct skybox in my compiled map, but the odd thing is that i can see parts off the map which should not be seeable because i blaced a skybox between me and them

Apparently you always get that error message using Valve's skyboxes. I think it can safely be ignored.

As for seeing parts of the map that you shouldn't...
Are you using the cordon tool? If so I think that will make areas that are outside your skybox, but still inside the cordon, visible.
If not using cordon, check that you haven't got any leaks. If you have, then the visibility tool won't run.

Can you post screenshots explaining the issue? Might make it more clearer...

I also got this bug once. It can be ignored. But if you can't compile your map you should check for leaks or brushes/models sticking through the skybox.

Well, there IS a way around it to not get the error, but trust me, it's not worth the effort on something that doesn't affect your finished product in any way

Just ignore it, everyone gets it

Ur skybox brush does not seal that part completely, there's a "leak"... Check ur skybox brushes. Also, load portal file and try to split portals\visleafs using hints\areportals.

wow, thx with the portal file tip, now i finally understand visleafs..
not that i didn´t get it in theory, but i didn´t know how to see them in hammer

big world out there and i have sooo much to learn, hehe
