March 6 update

Added shadows to the cart interior custom textures.
Aligned UV's to the custom textures.
Animated radar (broke earlier).
Made example map with sounds & effects.

Still thinking of how to animate when it reaches the final point, since custom particles are unavailable. Also making many other misc changes, but I will release this version sometime soon.

Very much a WIP at this point. Model is based on a 'bomb' from a movie, I'll let you guess which one. The model should glow (in the center). A bubbles particle emitter is attached. Basically, it'll be an EMP bomb thing.

Still to do:

More details on model
Edit textures for the old bomb (used for sides)
Enhance the glow, and textures/effects (reflections on glass??? and vmt setup???)
Possible animations (loading, detonation) <--- anyone have ideas for this?
Edit cart/dispenser objects?? (esp front of cart)

Edit:

Did some more tweaks to the .vmt's... playing with the envmap and selfillum settings (tinting the reflection and giving the glass/spiral a glow). I think this will look best in a map without a sun (aka overcast/night). Also flattened the edges on the sides. I'm still deciding on the base for the bomb, and how to rebuild the cart (going to be metal). Also added a sprite (last screens).

That is VERY sweet. I think maybe it would look more appropriate green, like in the photo. It looks more..... radioactive that way :p But i'm sure if you did give it an orange glow it would be just as effective as green. But it's a good alternative.

Perhaps you could stick some dynamite at the front where that wood is split? To serve as some kind of detination device. Now, i know dynamite wouldn't set off an emp.. lawl. But, it's the hint that your give the players. That futuristic spyrech device could be anything. Alternatively you could have antenna (like from a 1940's tv arial) coming from the nozel of the device, like a radio tranceiver or something.

You have textured it very well!

Damn that looks pretty nice. If you could add the green glow, it'd be awesome.

Are you also going to be editing the actual cart the bomb sits on? IMO it looks odd with the different bomb on.

For the detonation, Perhaps make the central glass pieces break, and it then releases a shock wave.


Also, are you going to be changing the spirals texture? at the moment it looks a bit flat and bright

Update... did a lot of work with the vmt's and the glass/spiral textures. Also, added an attachment for the bubbles (loads automatically with model, no adding entities). First, though:

I'm guessing you mean like the sides in the ref photo? I'm not sure if I'll change the sides, but I will probably add a base.

Most of the texturing is from the original cart :p. I just got lucky that it seemd to "fit" so well. I was still going to add more to the bomb, definitely some wires coming out. Not sure about the dynamite, but I do like the antenna idea. And Ill be adding some texturing (some sort of 'warning: emp' decal). I'm still deciding if I want to put some sort of device where the wood is split.

Oh wauw this looks really nice, and it's cool to see more bomb models. Maybe add a display somewhere because I wouldn't know how to set it off atm. Texture on this piece is great.

It'd be cool if you could get the Portal Storm or a similar effect to go off when BLU wins. But otherwise, awesome model! The only thing that's weird is the fact that the front of the cart is still broken.

Looks like a necron guass flayer now xD

I know it's not something you'd put on the model itself, but a green sprite would go brilliantly in the middle of that bomb.

It's really shaping up! But have you thought about having the front part as the normal, one, it would probably look better!

I could just see the payload getting to the end of a nighttime level, a small pop as the spiral in the center breaks, and then all the lights turn out and the rocket shuts off.

Ooh, fancy futuristic bombsticuff. Can't wait to see the bottom of the cart once remodeled.

I can imagine some blue metal-ish rocket propulsion attachments on the side of it.
