To get to the point we are in our gaming lives today, there always had to be a starting point.
These starting points are what kept us hooked in this industry and inspired us to become creators ourselves, so let's devote a thread to them!

Tell us what your first gaming experience was, and why you loved it.

If you want you can categorise them by PC, handheld and console and tell us how old you were back then and if you're not 100% sure what your first game was you can post multiple.)

First PC game:
-102 Dalmations/Half-life (4 years)

first handheld game:
-Jimmy Neutron vs Negatron (5 years, GBA)
-Donkey Kong Country (5 years, GBA)

first console game:
- Sonic 06 (6 years, Xbox360)

Jesus... D:

Anyway... well, let's see. I guess I'll follow your example. I was mainly a Nintendo kid and I didn't properly get into PC gaming until I got the Orange Box, when I was 15.

Console
First: Super Mario 64, when I was 5.
That the only game I played for over a year, until I got Diddy Kong Racing. I did play some Mario Kart on my friends' SNES before that though. I guess it's no coincidence that my favorite genres are still 3D platformers and kart racers.

Handheld
First: Super Mario Advance (Mario Bros 2), when I was 9 or so.
That was a weird introduction to 2D platformers... I think that was my only handheld game for a long, long time. It was hard to let go of the consoles.

PC
First: Now that I think about it, probably a game for little kids based on this franchise. I must've been like, 3 or 4.
Most of my PC gaming was The Sims (1 and 2) and LEGO Rock Raiders, though. And some Jazz Jackrabbit.

First PC game:
The Green Eggs & Ham interactive novel. Or if that doesn't count, Putt-Putt Goes To The Moon. (It's on Steam, amazingly.)

first handheld game:
Pokemon Yellow. I was never much of a handhelds kid so most of the games I played were stolen borrowed from my sister's collection.

first console game:
Car & Driver Presents: Grand Tour Racing '98, although the European version (the one I had) was called Total Drivin. It was a very straight-faced, straightforward driving game which only occasionally killed you by throwing you into pits of lava. Also, the company that made this game later made Ride to Hell: Retribution.

First Console games: (4 year-old)
- Some pirate Famicom cartridge that had over 10 games, including Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt

First PC game: (6-7 year-old)
- Quake III Arena (My first computer was previously owned by a cousin and had this game installed. My dad didn't liked it but I LOVED it)

I have never had a handheld console, so I'd say whatever game had my first cellphone (Probably Snake)

I kinda liked it, but only because I played with a friend. Everything becomes more bearable with a friend.

First PC game:
-I can't remember what it's called but it was a 3d platformer and I vaguely remember playing as a very small robot (so small that vegetables looked huge). I was probably around 10 years old.

First handheld game:
-Pokemon Yellow. I was probably around 10 years old when I first played that too.
-Donkey Kong Country (5 years, GBA)

First console game:
- I do have one of those limited editions Hey, You! Pikachu! N64s so the first console game I owned was Hey, You! Pikachu!. But I remember playing some casino poker game on the SNES before that. I was maybe 8.
