@Flower_Shop_Guy please for the love of god fix your eclipse!

The moon is never never darker than the sky around it. Look at any picture of a partial eclipse and you'll see
philippines-solar-eclipse-2009-1-26-6-3-22.jpg

The shadowed part of the moon CANNOT remove light that's diffusing in the atmosphere because the moon is entirely behind the atmosphere. The moon can ONLY make the sky lighter by adding light. Light is additive.

I'll repeat this again:
Nothing that is behind the sky can ever look darker than the sky, because it is behind the sky.

Sorry that this isn't TF2 related, but I finally finished the basic blockout stage of my first real CS:GO map and I'm moving into the weird purgatory stage between blockout and detailing where you make all of the detail out of brushes.

At this point it might be hard to tell, but the map is going to be set in Japanese garden/shrine area thing. I don't really have an official name for it yet, so any help with that would be much appreciated. So far my two ideas are de_dojo, which is easier to pronounce and is probably more widely understood, or de_shinobi because I like that word and it sounds cool, but players might not know what it means or how to pronounce it (if you don't know already, naming is a surprisingly big part of making CS maps, especially if you want to get into an operation. If people can't pronounce you map name, you're basically shooting yourself in the foot)

I'm curious what you think can be done to fix this. All I can possibly think to suggest is making a custom material with a material proxy, and placing it in the sky using env_sun, since env_sun always has an additive effect (think Screen mode in Photoshop or the like). However, I couldn't tell you how to make the proxy work. You'd think a material with two overlapping textures and one of them slowly scrolling would do the trick, but in my experience texture scrolling has a minimum framerate of one pixel per second, which is way too fast for what you want to do. The only other possibility I can think of is an actual custom frame-by-frame animation with a very low framerate, which may or may not also have a minimum.

Plus, I've never been able to get env_sun to work properly with a custom material, so you're on your own there.

I started detailing for what will (hopefully) be the last alpha version of Scientology, a11.

I'm not sure you understand what Scientology is.

I do understand the meaning of the word. It's a religion. It was also the only map name I could think of that wasn't two words smashed together ('sciencelab' was the original name), and it was the only science-related name I could think of that most likely wasn't taken.

Weren't you the one that suggested I changed it in the map's feedback one day?

2 words smashed into each other isnt bad at all. notice how many map names have this:
2fort, gravel pit, dust bowl, gold rush, badwater basin, mountain lab, coal town, big rock.
This is just a little part of the huge list of names.

Its beter to take a name that fits then to take one that doesnt. Scientology on that part is a very bad map name.

"Scientology" is not related to science at all, so you failed in that respect as well.

I think it's more science fiction more than anything.
Wasn't the religion invented by a sci-fi writer.

Yeah, it's a explicitly a money-making cult founded by L. Ron Hubbard that sucks money out of its members and brain washes them.
