In a problem I ran into trying to make a useful spawn, it turns out I made it too far from a flank path, so I decided to try out the Trigger_teleport to shorten the distance... how do I properly set it up

You're gonna want 2 things:
a. A trigger brush.
b. A teleport destination entity

If I remember right, the teleport destination entity is info_teleport_destination. Place one of those down where you want it, raise it a little off the ground and give it a name. Then, make a brush where you want to teleport from, texture it with 'trigger', select it and press CTRL + T. From the drop down options, choose trigger_teleport. Press enter, then select the name of the teleport destination entity as its remote destination.
It should then work.

Colt you are asking a lot of questions that can easily be answered by doing a search on the forum, or on Google, or going to the Valve SDK Wiki and looking at the pages for each entity. Try to do some research for yourself.

So you refuse to touch Google and want to be spoonfed information just because school gave you a hard time. Are you serious

Actually no... I actually feel like it's all too much effort... We had to go out to the library, do Google and specifically go out and look at archives... I have no idea how chat became this way... Curse you Internet... But no, never spoon fed, mostly beaten over the head... Forced to take AP classes... Only had 2 classes that were not, lunch and math

You don't have to go to a library and look at archives to find out how to use an entity in Hammer. (I'm not entirely certain there even are any physical books about using Hammer.) Just look up trigger_teleport on the developer wiki. Here's a link to the wiki.

Also, here's the entire Team Fortress 2 section. It's a tad outdated but it can still teach you a lot about mapping.

I understand that school can be boring, frustrating, etc. But you should not feel that way about learning about your hobbies and interests. The people who have made the tutorials and guides that you prefer not to look for, made them easy to follow, so people like you and me can learn really easily. Whenever you ask a question, you are asking us to virtually copy bits of these guides in to the forum, piece by piece. You must try to find out things for yourself, because if you refuse to help yourself, people will stop helping you.

When challenged, you seem to spend more effort blaming your life circumstances than you do trying to solve your problems. Please understand that this is frustrating for us because we want you to get better, but we know that your technical comprehension will improve so much if you learn how to find the answers for yourself. YouTube is a great place for tutorials if you don't like reading text.

As far as it's worth... I have the entirety of the wiki's tf2 resources... I use it on a regular basis... And well... I come here after I look there... Often I come here to ask trivial thighs or look to solve problems in design... And I like sleep... I also got a new rubber duck... I am a happy fox (don't ask why...)

I had the same problem, so I typed in google 'Hammer trigger_teleport' and then 5 minutes later it was working. Its less typing than making a thread.

It is also faster because you don't have to wait for somebody to answer.

Yeah, I don't really care about this. If you want to map, you need to put some effort into learning on your own. This is not some an easy thing to do. People get paid lots of money to do this, because it's a specialized skill that takes lots of time, practice, and training to learn. If you are too burnt out by school or whatever to look at the dev wiki, I have no sympathy for you. To me, that just means you don't want to make maps that much.

I did most of my mapping while working 60+ hours weekly (I ran a small business for 3 years before quitting recently) and still ran weekly gamedays. Now I'm back again, running gamedays, mapping, imps, and helping people on the forums, while being in university full time and while also being a teaching assistant. Not to mention seeing my actual friends face to face! If I have time to do anything, you have time to look at a wiki and have a little patience with yourself.

People have written these long guides and tutorials and created these videos for a reason. That reason is because much of the technique and theory behind mapping for TF2/Source cannot be condensed into a single post very easily. Most people are just regurgitating what they read on the wiki anyway; save yourself some time and don't bother waiting for their replies.

refer to previous notion... I get it... and honestly, mapping may be a hobby, but it keeps me busy in between life's moments...
