When i was playing it, it was the other city that started trading with me. But it wouldn't let me "buy" the city as it "wanted more trade". I did like the civ stage but probably because i blasted my way through it.

I've had FAR more fun on space running it on easy than on normal. It felt on normal that as soon as I entered combat I'd die instantly which was really frustrating and sporebucks came so few and far between but on easy everything feels accelerated so upgrading your ship comes faster making combat more realistic.

huh...it never occurred to be that space was hard in any way...of course i lost on tribal twice...so i guess everyone sucks at something <_<
and i happen to think the combat is kind of broken anyways...having the shield means basically instant win...it lasts for far longer then it should by any means

Space is nowhere near fun. So here's what happened when I played it last:

3 empires just plain out of the blue declare war on me, great.

In a cycle of about 5 minutes, I get attacked again and again and again and again!

I cannot stop this war because my only money sources are being freaking attacked non-stop

and during these battles, my ship dies 5 times.

If anyone can convince me that this is fun, I'll give you a million dollars. I expected space to be a sandbox game, not a game where i get killed every freaking minute!

/me returns to boycotting space and works on tributary

umm...i honestly can't say anything other then perhaps you just suck?
and it is more like a sandbox game the further you go...ive kinda run out of things to do <_<
only way to get out of your losing streak would be to hit them back...so...get on it

Oh, great idea! I would have *never* thought have charging straight at an armada that can attack me in space, while I cannot, and attempt to take down their 15+ ships against my one ship that will die before I can take out one of theirs. You are truly a genius. (yes I did try this, so don't say I'm exaggerating here.)

My thoughts of space was it was going to be a way to look back at your progress through evolution, among other things. In the demo videos I watched before release, in space your were pretty much god, not an exploitable puny creature with a run down space ship that has a laser while others have far more advanced weapons and multiple ships! what happened to the element of playing around with colonies, terraforming planets, interacting with civilizations that don't have nukes pointing at your face, and not getting blown up every god forsaken minute??? If you've gotten this far you should be rewarded, not have a freaking huge difficulty curve spike.

personally i find space to be the easiest stage...
and when you attack planets...ignore their ships, destroy their cities and then their ships leave...
the laser kills the city fairly quickly

or if they have alot of cities it always works to steal all of one plant and watch as they can no longer survive...the thing about your ship is that its faster then the other people, use hit and run tactics

Out of curiosity, Albobo, how many creatures have you brought into the space stage? It was only on my third attempt that I found myself able to communicate and establish friendly relations with almost all of the surrounding civilizations, such that when push did come to shove it was on my terms and only with one group at a time. This was only made possible by the fact that all but one had friendly, open personalities.

My first two attempts found themselves under attack by superior forces very shortly after the initial transmission, and it quickly degraded into "save one planet, find three others simultaneously under attack". There's not much you can do when you find your home planet bordered on all sides by warmongers.

Space stage is less a matter of skill and much more a matter of luck, at least in the beginning while you're trying to gain a foothold amongst the other races that have clearly had much more time to spread and develop than you.

just one...my other files im only about halfway through creature stage <_<

but yeah...i think i may know why the mode is so easy for me...because of how i played tribal stage and how it forced me to play civ, i get a 20% boost off the start in all my relationships...so basically i never start out below neutral terms, then i acted nice to all the people that were near the bottom until i built up enough resources to destroy, i want to try an all offensive game and see how i end up...i like to be able to see the other side of things

Spore: Most Pirated Game Ever Thanks to DRM

Since September 2nd when Spore first appeared on BitTorrent, it has been downloaded a little over 500,000 times across various BitTorrent sites according to our most recent statistics. This download rate exceeds that of any other pirated game in history, and in a week or two from now it will be the most pirated game ever.

Hahaha, nice. I went the military route, and fought my way to the center. Established a lot of colonies in the middle of their territory as well. The problem is that during the time I was fighting towards the center, I lost an ally as well has had several ecosystem collapses, and was raided several times. I guess it was worth it, but its odd in that its not a "game over" type of ending.

My game keeps crashing after any significant "event" when i get into space.. not even a chance to save my progress bit by bit.

Attack a world, get into space and it crashes, find an artifact, get into space and it crashes, about all i can do is collect spices. But eventually i get attacked, save a planet, get into space.. and yea, it crashes.

I want to crush the grox and everyone else :cursing:

That really sucks. Several people now have talked about the game constantly crashing. I never had it crash, though about 2 times it locked up for a few seconds, and I started to get worried.

I have problems with the crashing too.

Try (from space) going to the main menu upon saving.
It seems to save better for me than hitting ctrl+s or just selecting "save" from the menu.
