Fourth Floor - Lifts, a train and hopefully a volcano!
A 3CP A/D map made for the Dynamic CP contest, featuring lifts and a train. Photos coming later!

Do lifts change gameplay? Or do they just lift people capping like on hightower...
Seems more gimicy than a dynamic element.
I'm willing to call it dynamic. Some only turn on when you cap, so I think that counts as "alternate routes", if nothing else. Please don't criticise stuff based off of 3 words.

Not trying to be offensive, but dont use 3 words as the descrption for you're dynamic element.
Not trying to be offensive, but don't say "lifts aren't dynamic" before downloading the map and seeing that they're LITERALLY EVERYWHERE :mad:. They change gameplay - if they weren't there, it'd be unplayable

You stated in the download to not download the map.
Assumptions are forced to be made...
Screenshots look good though.
If you have nothing to base what you're saying on, don't say anything. Simple. If you wanna DL now, go ahead :D

I see where you're coming from, but the map is literally infested with lifts so that's not gonna be a problem. If you've got legitimate feedback, I'd love to hear it

They can, but the lifts aren't gimmicks in this, they're a major part of the map
I'm agreeing with you that they fit the dynamic definition, but I would still call it a gimmick. Gimmick isn't a derogatory or negative term here though. The word really just means something unique to make something stand out.

I said it was a map for the Dynamic CP contest, and Dave said that gimmicks weren't dynamic. Personally, I view that as a negative usage (mainly cos it implies I'm wrong and I'm an egotistic bastard) :p

Dave, in a map thread you posted, you included no screenshots or map download and wouldn't even give any information about what the map contained, only alluding to the possible presence of 'dynamic elements'. The discussion about whether dynamic elements in our contest entries should directly affect gameplay is still ongoing, hasn't yet been addressed by the contest coordinator and is in the contest thread. I do not think you are in a position to police other people's work as you have done here. I suggest you take a step back.

One thing I find myself wondering is what if I'm caught on a lift with an enemy soldier above me? As you said, lifts are everywhere, almost so much so that you HAVE to use them. I know that there are routes that don't use lifts, but any flanks for spys, pyros, ninjaneers and ninja heavies (if that's your thing) are completely risky to take. One suggestion that I have it to make the map shorter, thereby decreasing the height of the lifts and therefore the time spent on lifts. It just seems like to me that jumping classes have too much power on this map...
