Hellpit - You've been to hell and back. Now we're just staying there.

Created for TF2 Lil' workshop of Horrors

Fight in this action-packed trip to some carnival hell.

"A gimmick map, from Fr0z3nR? Wow! Thats a shocker. Whats the gimmick, Joe?"
"It's a BLACK HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE... to hell."
"But we're already in hell"
"It's the next track"


Every 75 seconds, the hammers will pound the point, allowing you to be launched up into the (now a placeholder), PORTAL TO THE NEXT RING OF HELL... which just happens to be a go-kart-track... FROM HELL.

You could disable the black hole to be only active when you can go to the track.

This is the one thing that I'm not really for doing. I'm going to look into turning back the power of it, but I'm not going to remove it completely. It is hard for demo's to hit the point directly, so I'm going to find the balance between the holes effect and the playability of demos.

This map looks hot! Sorry, couldn't hellp it.

I think the black hole will either be unimportant or annoying: either it affects all players nearby - and annoys them - or it only affects people in rare situations - like jumping over the point, or whatever - when they won't understand it and it will confuse and annoy them.

Perhaps i'm being too skeptical? I don't know. What I do know is that the basic layout of the koth level is kind of bad*, and you can do better.

*super narrow, confusing, just a bunch of corridors.

If you still want the singularity to be a thing, consider expanding the control point platform and capture zone. I thought that players looked reluctant to get on the point because of the... suction... and we had periods of maybe thirty seconds where it was unchallenged (or they were scared of me).

There's an update coming soon:

  • The point is a tad bigger, I've adjusted the rock size so that they aren't as over-bearing. It's still kind of tight. May adjust more in the future.
  • Black hole is still there and will affect projectiles, just not as close to the point so Demoman and throwables are useful again.
  • Fixed the bug with the impulse thing launching you super high. It was set to apply impulse to whoever was in the trigger whenever someone entered the trigger... so it'd launch you up, you'd fall down back into the trigger, get launched again, etc. Fun times.
  • Will be adding the Health and Ammo packs that I've forgotten to put in to begin with.
  • If I remember I'll do a soundpass too while I'm at it.
  • Added the new big black hoooooooooole particle effects made by FissionMetroid!

I still need testing on larger sized servers. I have a good idea of whats going to happen and I'm somewhat okay with it. I need to see it to confirm and will try and do that when this version is done.

Why can't you make it so that the black hole opens, sucks people in for 5 seconds or so and then closes and starts the cart match? It would fix the problems of

#1 players getting annoyed at the push triggers constantly being on the point (they are not fun)
and
#2 players not having enough time to get into the black hole
and
#3 players not knowing when the black hole is open

I changed it so that the hole opens up every 70 to 90 seconds (some random time between that). When it does, a trigger_push stays active for 15 seconds and allows players who jump up into it to get pulled to the kart track to attempt the Kart Bonus. It's not really meant to be a race, but more of a gauntlet.

You know when the black hole is open because there is a swirly jet comes up into it.

As I said in the previous post, the black hole trigger push has been nerfed down so it should only effect projectiles fired way up. So people getting stuck up there/tossed around like a sock shouldn't happen anymore.

updated Aesthetics.
Changed mid so it was a dash more open.
Fixed going into the Hell-track(TM)
Added Health and Ammo Pickups.
Made it a dash easier to see which territory you were in.
Things are orange now.
Added black hole particles. (Thanks Fission Metroid!)
Some other stuff that was hellish.
