Super bright overlays

A quick question I couldn't find the answer to...My spawn room has a "BLU" sign on the wall (team_blue, I think). When I render it in normal RAD and HDR, it turns into this blazing bright white rectangle on the wall. Can't even read it.

Can anyone tell me why that's happening? Thanks in advance. :)

Okay, I think I must be missing something. I've got the env_tonemap_controller working, and I have a few trigger volumes adjusting it on the fly in a few places.

My main problem is I have lots of props (like the fire extinguisher case and the "Intelligence -->" and "Exit" signs) that are still glowing hot white. I can't seem to find the tonemap settings that cool them off enough to look reasonable without darkening the rest of the area way too much.

I do know that the intel, control point, exit, etc. signs are self illuminated which your lighting setup could be interfering with if it's really bright. Not sure though. But then again, they shouldn't be affected by other lights... hmmmmm

Figured it out about 5 minutes after I posted. I was already doing LDR and HDR cubemaps, but the directional signs only turned normal looking when I ran buildcubemaps 3-4 times.
