How accurate is bspsource?

so my PC died a couple of days ago, I'm not too fussed as I was due for an upgrade anyways, but what I am fussed about is my work being lost. Only about 1/2 of it was ever released and most of it was indev versions of existing maps (massive changes to remonstrance, detailing and fixes for utilia and the overhaul of cp_banana are ones I'm gonna cry about for a while). My only real solutions are to decompile already existing versions of these maps and see what I can salvage.
So my question is, how accurate would bspsource be to the originals? I use vis groups pretty heavily so I'd want those to stay.

I think you lose visgroups, visclusters and some areaportals will merge. Also you should be able to salvage stuff from your hard drive

PSU blew up and took everything with it. Also how would I salvage stuff from the drive?

You lost nothing. Just plug old drives to new pc and you get all your files back. It is very unlikely that power spike would break HDD's or SSD's

Not necessarily true if the power supply surged all the components inside the computer on its way out.

If that's the case, I believe it might be possible to replace just the HDD's controller card with an identical one, but I'm not 100% sure if that'd work.

I'd imagine replacing one component of a hard drive would be the kind of specialty repair that would be more expensive than replacing the entire drive, especially if it's a model that's no longer being made, so at this point it's a question of how much your un-backed-up files are worth.

BSPSource will tie all of your func_details together into one mega-func_detail. It also fucks up on some other stuff. I'd say it's worth trying, but you're gonna have to put in some work to get it usable.
