Does compiling scale better with more CPU cores or faster cores?

For example, the Intel Core i7-5930K and the I7-5960X. The first runs at a higher clock speed, but the second has 2 more cores. Which would compile a map faster?

I'm not entirely sure, however my quadcore i7 from 6 years ago is really nice and fast, so any modern i7 is going to be so fast you really wouldn't care if it could be a few seconds faster.

The compile tools are designed with multithreading in mind, they do use multiple cores where possible.

Pity it doesn't support OpenCL so my beefy graphics card could get in on the action.

It will use all cores. I have 8-core FX-8320 and I get 99% load to all cores
