The situation:
I ordered BT's biggest fibre optic package and it'll be installed on the 28th

A nice man came to the door and had Virgin stuff with him to set it all up there and then today. 28 days to cancel and not be charged a penny.

If I want to cancel the BT option I have until 1pm on Thursday. If I want to cancel Virgin's I have until September the 22nd.

I can't try the BT one before I cancel it unfortunately.

So my question is thus:

Who are you with, UK users, and do you like their service?

I've heard equally bad things about both companies messing people around.

I'm using Virgin Media and so far it's been fairly hassle-free (besides them giving us a faulty router, which they replaced the day after I called them about it). Plus I'm living in a share house with three other people and I'm still able to get a decent enough connection on the US servers, which is pretty cool.

I'm with BT, but our area's connection is so shit it doesn't matter who we're with. Doesn't mean anything until BT Openreach pulls their finger out and upgrades the area.

You have my sympathies. I used to live in an area serviced by one of BT's experimental telephone exchanges so once upon a time (20 years ago) we were the first in the country to get every upgrade. But in today's world it's on old and outdated equipment that's different from every other exchange so it's updated really late.

Now though I'm living in a city
