How can I fix this weird visual anomaly at the origin of my map?

The lines say you've been chosen to bear witness.

On second thought I don't know if that's necessarily because of carving, but it could be. It could also be just any kind of bad brush or entity. If your compile log has no errors and alt+p in Hammer shows you nothing relevant, you might need to cordon pieces of your map to isolate the problem area.

I know I've seen this before but I can't remember what it was. It's bugging me.

My compile log only has skybox texture errors in it, I didn't carve, and alt+p just tells me there's no player start, which I know is irrelevant. I did however use the clipping tool for various reasons. Don't know if that's related or not.

Nope, nothing wrong with clipping. Glad it's gone. Hope it doesn't come back.

Did you type draw_cross into the console? I did that once in Half-Life: Source, and it looked similiar to that in the screenshots.

I did not. I think it had something to do with the outline of the flag for my ctf map.
