This is my first map. It is designed for the Versus Saxton Hale or Freak Fortress 2 mods, but can be played as a standard arena map (not recommended).

This map is meant to provide strategic opportunities to all classes against the boss in a setting that is easy to comprehend and fits with the TF2 art style. It is a standard map without gimmicks and can be played with any variety of players and bosses.

Screenshots of the map can be found here.

The current version of the map (vsh_derrick_pre) is a test version of what will become the full map. Feel free to run it yourself or add it to a server rotation, but be warned that there may be balancing issues, errors, or bugs.

The reason I am uploading a pre-release is so that I can receive feedback from other mappers/players before I release a full version of the map. If you have any feedback on the map's design, aesthetics, layout, etc, or have found a bug, please leave a comment or contact me on steam so that I can revise a full version of the map as soon as possible.

Note: this map uses the crude oil texture created by Void, which can be found here.

Looks neat! I've never played VSH myself, so I can't comment on the layout much. That said, there are some detailing nitpicks:

This metal texture has a "grain" to it. You can rotate the texture to better follow the direction of the brushwork, which will help make the tower more like metal beams stuck together rather than a metal-textured object in a videogame.

Displacement seam! Also, the wood retaining wall doesn't look real. A wall with a visible thickness to it would be more convincing.

These tanks would probably be built into a concrete foundation, rather than right into the dirt.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

One of the problems I notice with other vsh maps is that they lack detailing, so this kind of input is really useful for me to make my map stand out.

I've added some more screenshots to my post, in case you want to go through them and check for any other errors.
