I've been quite undecided on what to get as my next mouse, so I've decided to do a poll with two options: the Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse and the Redragon M601 Gaming Mouse. Don't worry about the price when making your decision- in this price value, I'm looking for what would suit my needs the best. If you would, please write a comment below explaining your decision. If you choose "Other", please write the other mouse you would recommend instead of the two listed, and a link to a page related to the mouse.

I'm going to be using my mouse in Hammer (no duh!), in games, and in 2D and 3D content-creation tools such as Blender. I'll also be participating in the 72-Hour Contest, so keep comfort in mind as well. Thank you, and happy scrolling!

I'll be using the results from today as well as the comments below to make an informed decision.

G502 user here. It's awesome. I know Freyja got one recently as well.

I heavily utilize the scroll wheel clickiness toggle on it to quickly move around in Hammer. The only problem I ever have is that I occasionally bump the DPI buttons, which can be frustrating in game. I should probably install the software for the mouse though, I bet I could lock it or something...

Haven't used the other to be able to compare, though.

I have a G502 as well and I have to agree with Crash, it's great. I've never heard of Redragon before but IMO that mouse looks terrible. It's also not very clear what sensor it uses so the chances of it being a "flawless" sensor are pretty low.

Also yeah Crash you should totally download the software, you can configure all the buttons to do whatever you want (including unbinding them).

I think I'm gonna go with the Logitech G502. Thanks to everyone for helping out!

I have no experience with either of those mice, so I can't give you my opinion on them.

I use a Roccat Kone XTD. It wanted something that resembled a traditional mouse more than a freakish gaming mouse. It had to be comfortable, not too large, with tapered buttons so I could click precisely if need be. Also had to have a stiff, segmented scroll wheel to cut down on accidental scrolls, and it had to have extra buttons that didn't get in the way.

I got all that. The buttons on the left work like a Shift key, where all the other buttons can then be assigned a function. You can assign keyboard combinations, or macros, mouse tasks or system tasks. You can store several profiles and have different sensitivities or DPI in each, and easily switch between them using the button in front of the scroll wheel. I currently use the shift secondary buttons to cast most of my healing spells in World of Warcraft, eight of them in total.

Plus it lights up! The four LEDs are RGB, and can blend between different colours, in a choice of patterns.

I don't think you can really go wrong with the logitechs. I still use an MX518 from ages ago and it's still excellent.
