I dunno, I just kinda hate that little waiting period. It gets in the way for me. Its fine if I can't, I just wanted to know if I could.

It should work though - the convar was enabled.

I did actually use that same command in pd_watergate_b5 during the MvA contest - was really close to the deadline and for some reason testing the map on servers made the gamemode not work, but it was working fine during my own testing. Only difference between my testing and server testing was I was skipping 'waiting for players' and the server did not. Needed a quick fix, just did a mp_waiting_for_players_cancel 1 in servercommand 4 seconds into round, seemed to work. I still don't know specifically what the problem was, but I've since changed the gamemode anyway.

In most cases (like, other than that specific instance Egan mentioned) the waiting for players period allows people to download the map and maybe look around before the game starts. I think it's best left alone.

Right, that was just one thing I usually poke around with. I'll definitely remove it before I make a final version.

Just set it to a bind. That way you don't have to put point_servercommands in your map and have to worry about remembering to remove them.

Due to a personal event happening on my original dates, I'm going to have to change from July 24th-27th to the 17th-20th.

Updated. I've also added a slot for the 10th-13th because someone requested it.

2 questions:
1: Can we do more than set of dates?
2: Can we use sketchup or any 3d program to plan? Or is is strictly 2d programs only?

I would wager as long as the work isn't actually used 3D programs are fine. Hell, you could plan in hammer then totally restart your .vmf when the contest starts, just don't go and use the old work.

Bingo! You can make whatever you want before the contest, as long as it doesn't end up in the final product (this excludes custom packed content, which can be made before the contest starts and still be used in the final product). This means you'll need to remake everything completely, and not just modify it.

Yep! However, I do ask that you don't test any new versions of your map until the judging period is over. Judging can take a while (it has taken over a month in the past), so there will be an option to opt out of the voting procedure if you'd like to continue iterating on your map directly after the contest.

Also to clarify something, if this custom content is say a model or texture it has to be made freely available for everyone to use before the contest starts right? Otherwise you could pull a Rexy and make a whole map out of a model. Or create a really crazy set of props and not release them, then say "It's just custom packed content"

I think this was answered before as "Yes" Anything you've made before the contest that you plan to use, must be released beforehand.

If people start to bend the rules, then they'll be made stricter.

I think this was answered before as "Yes" Anything you've made before the contest that you plan to use, must be released beforehand.

Some people want to use custom content of their own that they don't want to publicly license, so the rules allow for that. If it becomes a problem, then that option will be removed.

Thank you for clarifying :D
