Hampshire Heavies: New Map Night - we'll test your maps! Sun 19th April

2YtaJOM.png

Hello, I'm Sam from the Hampshire Heavies, a UK/EU TF2 clan. We're running a New Map Night on Sunday, 7pm GMT+1/UK time, and we'd like to test your maps!

We provide feedback on server and on our forum, along with a SourceTV demo if you can't come along. It's a 24 man public server, alltalk switched on. Our server is usually full for the whole playtest.

Couple rules, similar to the gameday: map must be in active development, playable on a 24 man public server, no fullbright, must have better gameplay than orange_x. The map will be played for as long as is worthwhile - anywhere from between 20 to 40 minutes. We hope to play 5 maps over 2 hours.

I cannot promise 100% that if you post your map, we will be able to play it. We have to do what's best to keep our member's interest. Though we are very very forgiving!

Please post below (with your Steam profile so I can contact you) if you are interested. :thumbup1:

...

The HH has a long history of assisting mappers. Over the years we have been involved in playtesting freight, gullywash, and steel - in fact, our help with the latter got us our own poster included in every single copy of TF2!

Help us live up to our legacy and discover the next 'officialised' community map.

Actually there's 3 in it - cap 2 carts, releases the third one :)

^^ just wanted to clarify the 2 cart thing in case anyone is paying attention to those sorts of details :p

Just a quick heads up, I’ve updated my map to fix some minor issues. You should be able to use the same download link to download the updated version, however.

This week we're playing:

pl_coldtop
cp_ironside
arena_westmill
pl_sandsnake
koth_frozenfountain

Sorry we can't play cp_woodmill, the layout is much too cramped and it's unlikely we can give useful feedback until that is sorted.

Join thehh.co.uk:27055 from 7pm (UK time) tomorrow to join in!

Please add me on Steam friends if you created one of the above maps!!

Can you give me a link to a .bsp please? I don't know what to do with a vpk.

edit - I downloaded a tool to extract the bsp, and it crashes TF2 upon load. Sorry we can't play it, I can have a look at it for next week if it's fixed.

Hey, I'm sorry I couldn't get a bsp to you in time. I've never been able to successfully load naps onto this site. I'll do my best to have one ready for you the next time Hampshire Heavies has an event on this site like this. I'm sorry.

Upload them as bsp, zipped bsp, or bz2'd bsp.

Just did that now. Always been a little uneasy about it, however, since whenever I do something always seems to go wrong.

Distributing maps in one of the formats Crash listed is actually the norm (and less work than a .vpk) so I'd suggest making a habit of it to make things easier for everyone.
