Hello, so I am planning to make a city map(my first map), I would need CS:S and maybe HL EP 1&2 textures for my city since it would be more modern type.
I do not own CS:S or Half Life EP 1 or 2, but I just need the textures and maybe props.

So if you got a link to the textures (and maybe models also), could you please share it with me.

Also where do I add them so I can get them working ?

Thank you !

Since you are mapping for TF2, why not just use TF2 textures or custom texutres for TF2. Textures from cs:s and hl2 would look out of place.

Either way, why do you need EP 2? It's all set in a forest anyways.

this this this this this

If you wanna make an urban-themed map, make it with dev textures first, and if people like how it plays, you can probably request textures and models for the art pass and there are people — if not here, then probably on Facepunch or Polycount — who will gladly make them. There's quite a bit of interest in getting more urban assets for TF2 in general.

Buy the games, they're cheap and classics.

isn't piracy getting the whole game on pirate bay etc. I think that just the textures are legal to get.

What makes you think "just the textures" are legal to get? Someone worked hard to make them and packaged them in a game to be sold for money, not on freeware sites like Gamebanana to be downloaded for free.

that is just what I have been told, but thanks. Even these games aren't really cheap, CS:S 19€, Half Life E1 6€ or something, E2 9€.

You got a point, but it's legal to modify or take assets from games that you own a legal copy.
I'm not a expert so don't take this as hard fact.

Depends on the game, company and the licenses (if any) used for their assets. If you're using Source Game textures in Source Games, you're fine because I think they're under a license that allows this.

BUT if you start to make money off them or they are used to help you make money, IN ANY WAY (directly or indirectly), then yes, it's illegal. No matter if you own the game or not.

You "think"? If we are going to argue details then we need actual legaleaze.

I might, if I have a pay safe card during the sales. Or if I can get one since it is over 100km to nearest kiosk selling those, so I have a pretty low change of getting it

In which country do you live? Dosn't in most countries which have paysave, it's sold in almost every filling station

Get a credit card. Your local bank will be able to help you find an appropriate deal.
