I recently began making a custom prop for my payload map. The map itself calls for a hollowed out rocket, and I figured my makeshift combination of brushwork and a model could not suffice indefinitely. So, I edited a rocket model in Blender, as seen in the accompanying screenshot, and then I exported it to my desktop as a dmx and a smd. The problem is, I'm not sure where to go from here. How can I convert one of these files into a .mdl? Also, does it seem as though I have missed a step?

EDIT: OK I just realized I can't get the image of the model in blender to show up. I am working on it. Sorry about that.

Thank you for that. Unfortunately, the model still only exports as a dmx even when I tell it to export as an smd.

I'm afraid that now when I export an SMD, nothing is exported. It only gives me this error.

are you using the correct version of blender for the exporter

blender has a bad habit of breaking plugins every few versions ... and its not unusual to find a plugin that only works on version 2.6.5 or something

fortunately it isn't hard to download older blender versions (and most of the new features don't touch the modeling your doing ... so you don't have to worry about relearning stuff)

I'm not sure, I'll have to double check when I get home tonight. I'll post it as soon as I am able.

Wait, I just took a look at the screenshot I posted above. Looks like the Blender I'm using is version 2.69.

Everything must have a material applied to it for it to export correctly too (also, you'll definitely want smd and not dmx)

and when you do finally get the smd to export, changing it into a mdl requires GUIStudioMDL.exe (or the equivalent, that's just what I use)
