This is Merasmus. I hath smited thee with the clicking of the thread link! Made ya look!

The truth is, the Japanese Mafia stole this thread in retaliation for my huge debt, so yeah, argh. But at the moment, there is a small discussion still happening, so if your interested, just scroll down a bit.

Just to clarify the Humble Bundle post is the only sort of news post I could find that suggests that Valve is removing OAuth support though I have no reason to believe otherwise.

I'm kinda surprised since OAuth is a really good service and it's really weird for them to just take away a service like this.

EDIT: I think I may have over-exaggerated about this and it may not be removing the ability to sign in through steam, but it will still be removing a bunch of features that were available to web developers which in itself is really stupid.

We'll see what happens.,

Thanks for the clarification. I'm quoting you in the description, just for future reference.

...

I'm confused

Don't worry 'bout it. This thread arose from something in the Steam Chat, and what happens in Steam Chat, stays in Steam Chat (or ends up in the convos thread)

Geit: So I was about to ask FireSlash about that thing with OAuth
Geit: And I realised I'm a moron
Geit: OAuth is what gives you low level access to someone's account - like what HumbleBundle and the steam mobile app need
Geit: Most sites, including TF2Maps, use OpenID which just confirms that person A is in fact actually person A and gives you their Steam Community ID
Geit: so, tl;dr - doesn't matter that they're phasing out OAuth - only partners are supposed to be using it anyway, not the community.

Geit gets it right.

I don't really know anything about anything, though at least I brought it up, that's what counts... right?

so eh while we're on the subject how about that new Steam ID widget we were supposed to get eventually

I'll settle for an icon in the user's sidebar thing that links to their profile, we don't even have that seriously even the freaking My Little Pony forum I'm on has one of those

Please, tell me more. I have to sign into a Finnish sign-in page every time I want to log into the feedback service!

Oh, and while I'm on the topic, I'd also like the feedback system to tell you which people played your map during the Gameday, if that's even possible.

Edit: Oops; from a quick Google search, I may just be reading Hungarian. And it seems to be the case with whatever Steam link I click on the site.

You can easily change back to your preferred language for the steam website.
