Heya there,

I have started to learn how to use custom textures with maps in hammer. However the one thing I want to know is the pixel:hammer unit scale/ratio.

Is it something like 2:1?

As I create the images using photoshop.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Most repeating hammer textures use 64, 128, 256, 512, or 1024px dimensions so any of those will work depending on the level of detail you want in your texture (wall and floor textures are typically 1024x1024). The texture browser in hammer also gives you the dimensions of each texture if you need more references.

By default, materials are at a 4:1 scale. A 512x512 material will cover a 128x128 wall. If this is ever an issue, you can change the scale of the material on any face through the face edit dialogue.

Use the first two boxes (Texture scale X and Y) to change the scale manually, or press the Justify: Fit button to resize the material to the size of the face.
