If you've been active during the holiday season, this map may look familiar! This is a modified pl_smissmaseve, to be more seasonally universal. My original ambition was to make a fun holiday themed map for people to be merry and kill on, but with Smissmas behind us, I didn't want to abandon the map until next November. So I gave it a fresh coat of paint. New colour, new skybox, new additions!

I'm also rolling the map back into Alpha, as I want to take my time with it. Thanks to all those that have supported the map so far.

I was wondering what happened to smissmaseve_b2. Still think that you should release that as well.

I guess I may as well provide a bit of feedback about detailing.

This fire hydrant is too high up on the wall to be feasibly used.

Add a prop door over here (and a ladder) to make it look more like an area that could actually be used on a somewhat regular basis.

This room here is way too busy and cluttered when it comes to all of these supports.

This streetlamp doesn't really have much of a reason to be here. And why is it made out of brushes? Isn't there a prop you could use instead?

I think you should replace these wooden slides on last with shutters. Also, I'm seeing a lot of wood. Maybe make one of the buildings on last out of concrete.

In regards to theming, I'd recommend putting a bunch of tree stumps out of bounds around BLU's base, as well as in the 3d skybox to suggest that BLU is doing some heavy logging. Later on, I'd also recommend incorporating some more spytech into the map that isn't inside the building at first.

Thanks! Detailing is in the early stages so this helps a lot! The 3D skybox is far from finished, so expect some logging stuff happening out there. That mid room with the beams was my first time trying indoor beams so it's really iffy. I'll redo it soon. As for the lamp, all the models I found were off, and in Smissmas Eve that was a particularly dark exit of spawn, so I used to it brighten up the map and kind of highlight the spawn exit. That can be removed now. Spytech is always a possibility for the rooms you'll see inside the buildings, but as for play area I like to stick to theme if possible.

Can I recommend updating Smissmas eve next November (or even October, to give valve time to notice it) with the new version? I feel like you went through to much work on this to just get rid of the theme. I thought you just took the fact that it didn't get added as an opportunity to take your sweet time on the project until next year. But this option works too.

The map being added during a Smissmas update would be amazing but it's a little far fetched. The likelihood of that happening it pretty low. But, I will continue updating Smissmas Eve come October/November. This just allows me to update the map without having to justify Smissmas themes in May.

Updates to map will probably be a few weeks between, as I am working on koth_produce and a few other things along the way. We'll see.

There is, in fact, a street lamp prop that would suit this map perfectly. I forget its name exactly, but it has the word "lamp" in it. I used the model quite a lot in arena_donald.

(EDIT: it's called lamp002.mdl)

Also, I don't know why but I love the name "Season's End".
