I have a friend who loves and prides himself on his displacements. My idea is, he builds us a landscape, and we turn that into a map. It would have one specific game mode, and would show how different minds work with mapping. I'm not sure who would mediate it, I could if it came down to it, but I think it could be a fun thing to do all winter long. Thoughts?

I actually like this idea. It's unique and (to my knowledge) has never been done before. I think it could be really interesting. We currently have the mini-detailing contest going on and the 72hr contest is coming up, so right now is a little busy, but I think this could be a really cool contest.

Edit: Just remembered we have a thread for this. Might be better there: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=3958

I would compete :)

However I have 2 questions-

A: Can we change what ground texture it is? Or can we only do minor blend modifications?
B: Can we cut into the terrain? Like, to make a cave or structure.

Not sure, but if I have to give you something to think about, it would be

A: Stick to the texture, but can be painted to make paths and things
B: I'd say no, not sure if they guy is still doing it because we had a little falling out, but when we last talked he had caves and cliffs and things. If he doesn't want to do it anymore, I'll contact some displacement kings here and see if they'll do it!
