I'm very excited to release my first completed, working map, cp_talon ! It's an A/D map with some unique areas and unique gameplay. This is relatively detailed for an Alpha, but I decided that the details implemented will influence the general layout.

Story (WiP):
Before his death, Redmond Mann filed a 198,785 page-long patent for a new Australium containment unit, titled T.A.L.O.N. (Tenulizing Affirmative Laxomical Overatunement Nest). He realized that, due to the length of the file and the constraints of the file service he used, Redmond and his team of construction workers would have to set up their own file service, under the business name "Reliable Exporting and Deletion," in order to send TALON to the patent office. Meanwhile, Blu team sent in sphees to uncover the secrets Red was hiding. Without enough time to construct the expensive TALON unit and prevent the patent from being filed, Blu decided to slow down Red's efforts and attack the satellite/laser that the base used for web communications.

To-Do:
-Fix bugs
-Fix roofs
-Make some walls between areas make sense
-Add more supplies at B if complaints come up

Known Bugs (Please caution about to players on Gamedays and during testing):
-Some players might spawn in the same place in Red's forward spawn, even with 16 info_player_teamspawn's
-Shadow issues
-Decals don't show up for some reason

The Next Version Should Feature...
-More supplies at B if complaints come up
-A couple of small fixes to some areas

A & B look pretty damn amazing, but C looks pretty me right now

Thank you very much (and yeah, I'll continue to edit layout and improve on some open space as get some feedback)! I'm aiming for something like Yukon (where the point is pretty much immediately at and above the defending team's spawn doors), but for A/D.

I've never been convinced by the short containers shown in pic 4. Can someone give me an example of where they are used in an actual map? They never look large enough to be worth "making" into a shipping container in real life.

Otherwise, it looks pretty good. Some of that fog looks a little extreme, but you may be designing around a foggy port or something anyway.

Oh, and I'd fiddle around with sunlight angle. At the moment, it seems to be mostly hitting the rooftops and not actually getting into player space.

I want to thank everyone for some amazing feedback both via comments here and through Saturday's Gameday. I'm currently working on a2 of the map, which will feature a hopefully more balanced C area, a forward spawn for Red, better supply locations, more signage, better spawn times, and the disabling of that annoying fog! I'll update soon enough.

The map has been updated to Alpha 2! Enjoy (that annoying fog has been disabled)!

Hey there. I'd like to help developing the map, especially by fixing these known issues; I think I know what may happen and how to fix them. You can also post the outputs you added to open the gates, and the announcement alerts on control points' holograms.

I want to thank you for your offer, but I think I've got the current issues about covered. Once I receive some gameplay feedback for Alpha 2, I'm going to continue working on Alpha 3 (which will fix the spawn barrier problem with moving doors). I want to keep the current bugs log up until a3 is released, just to let people know of the current problems that a Gameday might face.

Oh, and nice work with Lonely Mesa - I can see all of the effort you've put in, even just in the Alpha state!

P.S. I added a "The Next Version Should Feature" section above to deal with situations like this one, and to give others a better grasp on my map development process.

Alpha 3 has been released! Please keep in mind that there are still some bugs that need to be fixed and touchups that need to be implemented. I might request in a different thread how to go about doing so.

I'd like to congratulate you:

You are one of the few mappers I've seen that didn't immediately abandon their first project. At this rate, you might get yourself to beta! Good job so far!

Thank you very much! This fact is probably due to the huge list of projects I abandoned pre-Alpha before I brought cp_talon to fruition, including (but not limited to)...

Reuploaded because this is where the magic began, folks. "Thank you for visiting the KubeKing Museum of Reuploads, please come again." That's how I'd end every tour if I had a museum dedicated to me.

Now I want a private museum. Kinda like the one on the blimp in "Up". That was a pretty cool scene. I loved that movie, what a classic Pixar film. Excited for their new releases. "Moana" hype!
