Named after the thing that makes ugly static reflections possible, I'm an 18 year old Dutch guy who's not living in Amsterdam, hates any alcoholic beverage and does not do drugs and would rather sit on his butt the entire day playing either TF2 or Kerbal Space Program or watch videos on YouTube all day. Takes a 6 month long course to become what they call a "3D-Producer", essentially coming in with no experience in the 3D world whatsoever.

Ha, that's a lie. I can work with the Source Filmmaker, making countless and countless of still images (found on my DeviantArt here), used Hammer to create simple, custom maps for some of them. Also used Hammer to see what entities/textures (like mirrors and projected camaras) worked with TF2 and then discovered that that process ruined my install of TF2 for some reason. Used to run on a potato that was called a MacBook Air from 2011, is now in possession of a brand spanking new 15' Retina MacBook Pro with the bumped up GT750M. So yeah. I run OS X. Also have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit install on there that's used for the SFM and Hammer. And since I have a computer that can actually give me a smooth image in the SFM, I'll be doing short movies as well. Can come in handy with showing off maps. Seriously. My old potato could do 7 fps max without any lighting/models. I'm on 40 now.

I'm currently going straight into my first contest without having a big Hammer knowledge. My biggest map is something like 256x256 and it was just a simple, ugly displacement with a non-fitting grass texture and the worst lighting ever, made for one of my posters. The contest is that make a beautiful map thing, and I already have some ideas for maps with a game mode, so now I can use this contest to lay my foundation for my first playable map ever, set on a dam. Also gonna be creating some custom water textures, ones that for instance reflect in real time. TF2 can do it, so I see no reason why to go with the standard ugly cubemapped reflections.

So now you know me. Looking forward to making maps and I'll see what my mapping skills (or lack of) can do in this contest.

Cubemap out.

Ha, cubemap in again. Forgot to say that I joined TF2 right after the Uber Update. Got into Hammer and the SFM a little more than a year and a half ago. Oh and to Crash: you probably know me as MrVinney96 on the YouTubes. I'm the guy with the pootis heavy as the avatar. You're awesome. Everybody's awesome here.
