What *SPECIFICALLY* is the problem you're having?
Have you launched hammer before and have it work? If not, find the hammer.bat file and launch that, THEN launch the hammer.exe that you find you the bin folder of Team Fortress 2's steamapps folder.
If you've done that, could you explains the conditions?

Does it crash crash, as in just close completely? Or does it crash and then just hang?
Could be a memory issue? Have you restarted your computer and tried again?

Maybe Crash is the wrong term. How about.... Just not start.
Here is the order of events
1. I double click the program
2. Hammer Logo Appears
3.A box with margins appears
4. Then It all closes
5. A new file appears in my bin folder named "hammer_20140928_172319_1_accessviolation.mdmp"
Once again if you have a solution Tell me it please!!!!!!
