My first real map project, once again made for the VS. Saxton Hale and Freak Fortress 2 mods. I was going to do an Attack/Defend map but planning it out and trying to figure out everything I needed to considered got a bit overwhelming at first, so I started on another VSH map so I could spend my time getting more familiar with Hammer and general map design before tackling a more complex project.

I wanted to do a lonely, isolated, cozy kind of map out in the middle of the ocean, so that's what I did. There are three levels: The surface, the main floor, and the hallways. The surface is fairly open and flat, while the main floor has a lot of vertical space and props for traversing at different heights. The hallways are more maze-like and secluded so if you're lucky, you could probably lose Hale here if he's gunning you down. Or maybe you'll get cornered, I dunno. Each level connects to the other two in some fashion, with the hallways also having an exit that takes you right out into the ocean. There is a fourth level planned for the entire bottom half of the construct, but I don't know if I'll implement it right now, the map as it stands is fairly sizable.

This map is a very early build. I'm releasing it now so others can give me their input before I build any further; I don't want to put too much effort into it only to find out people hate pretty much everything about it. Saying that, it looks rough, but it works, and I'd be honored if it found its way into your server's rotation!

Isolation's already been taken by an MvM map.

It's probably okay since the two are pretty unrelated at this point.

Looking at your map, it looks like the experiments I started out with in 2009. A bit messy, but that's okay. I'd recommend this set of videos to watch, really good mapping concepts to be learned. Also your point area is a bit dark.

Map has been updated. It's not that big of an update since it was mainly to brighten up and fix some problems I've had with the main floor where the control point is. It should be more pleasant to both look at and move around in now.

Also started watching those videos, Egan. Pretty educational stuff!

As for the name, I'll change it if people want me to enough, but as Egan said, they're in totally different ball parks. Couldn't really think of a better name anyway.
