I am currently making a wall for a payload map, which is curved. I want a ramp to be curving up the curved section of the wall. Could someone please tell me the easiest way to do this, as the way I have done it looks a bit stupid... (pics attached, colours (aussie spelling) alternate so that you can see the ramp a bit better.

Also, how do levels work on the forums?

eg Lv1, Lv2, etc.

You should just be able to make it out by vertex editing it (to make it look nice, you'll need to vertex the outer ring onto the grid as well). If that fails, there's a program called twister to make perfect displacement ramps.

Levels on the forums are simply based off post count. Most people replace the L1: whatever text with custom text though, which I believe anyone can do in their UCP.

Images on the forum resize automatically to fit into the width (you wont see this the first time until you refresh the page)

Although I must say, I'm confused as to why you posted both monitors. You clearly opened it in a paint program, even paint has the ability to crop images :p

The reason I didn't crop the second screen off was because...

Yeah I have no excuse :p

Will crop next time, or just unplug my screen. Thanks for the tip(s)

Use triangular prisms for curved ramps. Make a normal ramp, clip it into the number of divisions you want in your curve, then clip each of those rectangular sections (top view) into triangles. Then you can vertex manipulate it into the shape you want since the brushes can't become invalid now (as long as you keep all their sides vertical)

Also consider using the "Snipping tool" (search in your start menu). It makes grabbing quick pictures really easy, no more clipping in paint.

I'll post it here since it may also help other out - how do you get the curve tracks to align properly on a slope?

Any tips to how you do it? It always seems if one end, or the other, or both ends never align up right to a flat section.

If you look at valve maps you'll notice the tracks often do not line up. They'll even have tracks on the slope clip through the bottom tracks and stick into the ground. It is just one of those things you can't get perfect but nobody really notices.

I was wondeing if someone hand a better way of doing it and it looks like Seba got it spot on - doing it his has and applying a metal texture to it would probablt work - you could just use the model as a guide then copt it over for the other side of the track :)

I'd say if you're really insistent on your map having a track that spirals upward, or does anything else particularly out of the ordinary that can't be achieved with stock models, just let it go until you're in beta and then request a custom model for it. Shouldn't be too hard to make one, considering.

OH. Don't use curves on slopes. func_tracktrain physics doesn't like it.
