So I'm working on a Halloween version of Turbine. I know y'all don't typically like remakes of Valve maps, but I thought this might be different enough.
So here's what I've posted on another forum (I won't include a link as I figured "advertising" is frowned upon):

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The project is to create a reskin of Turbine, with a Halloween-Mashup theme! I'm still thinking on the features and details and whatnot, so suggestions are always welcome! I am currently working of Phytophyte's idea of including features from all previous halloweens. There will be smaller clocks (spooky grandfather clocks) inside each base to tell the time until the next event. Outside, the moon will change phases, each phase signifying a new event.
Phyto's first thoughts go like such:
New Moon: Outside goes pitch-black, and a ghost wanders each base. (Harvest Event)
First Quarter: a spin on Merasmus's wheel. (Ghost Fort)
Full Moon: Monoculus missles rain down outside from the moon. (Eyeduct)
Last Quarter: Spellbooks appear. (Helltower)

All comments/suggestions are very much appreciated! (I mean it! Anything! If you don't like something I've already done tell me!)

PROJECT PROGRESS
Battlements Main: ~30%
Battlements Details: 0%
Skybox Details: 0%
Spawns: 0%
Base Interior: 0%
Functionality: 0%
Extra Detailing(?): 0%
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That said, I'd love help/suggestions from all you other map makers. If you actually want to help in creating it, that'd be amazing! Thanks so much.

Scarebine is better, but Turbine:TERRORbine is an opportunity you wouldn't want to miss.

Maybe not the place, but this makes me think a halloween artpass mini-/contest could be interesting.

You are going to need some trickery to correctly place the moon in the skybox, since the skybox itself is fixed. You will need a prop for this. I hope that you like modeling.

No, you don't. They can just make a custom overlays for the moon and put it on a nodraw brush.

In fact, you could even just rip the moon from sky_night_01, fix up the edges and use that instead of making one, then do the phases too (should be easy as anything)

Edit: And have a few different func_brushes with different overlays, enabling/disabling as you please.

Or I don't know if TF2 has one, but Portal 2 has an entity for changing overlays, and you may be able to input/output an overlay change to an overlay.

You dont need a model or texture, there is already a ingame texture of a moon, they used it on helltower

That's exactly what I was thinking of using, figured that would work out well. And Terrorbine was only a temporary name, I just figured Tur -> Terror worked better than Tur -> Scare. Thought it would be a better play on words but if you Scarebine is more popular then so be it :p

Out of curiousity, how were you thinking I could do phase changes Berry? I mean I've thought of a way or two to do it, but none that are particularly simple or easy...

Are you talking about the texture_toggle entity? I wonder if it works on skybox textures
