Blend textures ain't blending

looks like they're blending to me, just like the blend's a bit broken.
note that blending in hammer looks different from ingame depending on your settings. there's something called "blend modulation" where instead of being a gradient thing it'll make patterns and hard edges.

I have never seen artifacts like that. What on earth are you doing?? Full hammer screenshots, provide them please!

You've turned the entire brush into displacements, it is only supposed to be the face you want (the top surface). Easy way to fix it: select all your ground brushes, open the face edit dialog (this will convert your selection to all faces on the brushes), then deselect (ctrl+click) all the ground faces you want to keep, click destroy.

I've never heard of it causing Z-fighting, but it should probably be fixed first anyway.

Yup, done that. The map looks fine now, but as soon as I fire a weapon its resets to what was shown previously
