They're in the middle of talking about it on the Epic twitch channel.

-Big focus on community creations and mods
-Windows/Mac/Linux (SteamOS?) support
-Price: Free, with a full-blown marketplace for distributing maps/skins/mods.

Though hopefully Source 2.0 is pushing for the same model..

I just can't wait until I get a modern version of the source SDK base without massive, overbearing, esoteric collision bugs.

Earlier versions of UT came with a UT-specific editor, so maybe this one will, too.
I hope they put as much effort into making the game fun as they put into making it look good.

They've already said you'll need UE4, so I suspect that Epic is getting money from the subs.

I've heard Unreal handles all of its logic client side, so if you were do do a complex mode like payload, every time a player joined you'd need a horrible series of entities to fire to bring their client up to the correct point. Rather than how source does it, all server side.

Sounds like a nightmare. So a tentative, no thanks.

So hang on. You have to buy the engine, and the game is just an official mod for it? That's very weird.

No, I think the game will be free when it's finished. From what I understood, they're going to make money from the engine itself (unreal being a flagship game like usual?) and mods that people make for unreal (like the steam workshop)

Basically that. Everything Epic puts out for the new UT is going to be free.

Plus, it gets a bunch of people learning to use and mapping for the engine, so bigger work force to pick talent up from.

Curious to see how long it takes before a group works up a new version of Unreal Fortress.

Great reflections, but that lighting :/

Hasn't had a lighting pass yet. they said those were just quick temp lights

Also: that's just an art visual concept "we want something a little like this"
