This was probably WorldForge back then, the precursor to Hammer, but it's funny how we're using basically the same program today.

The Forge (bought up, and hence why FGD is Forge Game Data) -> Worldcraft (HL release) > Valve Hammer Editor (renamed for no apparent reason) > Hammer (Source version)

I'm intrigued by that window in the center. Were they running the preview builds in tiny windows to save on processing power, you think?

TF2 does that too, if you press F9 and let it fire up the game it starts in windowed mode at a relatively small resolution.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was to save on CPU, but it also means it's easy to tab out and make adjustments while you explore the map.



And yeah I always get worldforge crossed up with worldcraft. It was a long time ago, and is only useful as trivia at this point. :O
