I am trying to replace a texture on a brush with multiple textures. I select the brush first, then I open the texture application tool. Then I go to "Replace..." and browse for the right textures. But the option "Replace In: Marked Objects" always stays grayed out. I can only replace all of the textures in my entire map, which I dont want of course. How can I get around this?

Thanks!

Weird, it's happening to me too, and I can't fix it. You can work around it, though: select the brushes you want to replace, hit ctrl-h (hide unselected), and then replace textures, making sure "Hidden objects too" isn't checked. When you're done hit u to unhide all.

then I open the texture application tool.
That's the problem. When you open that dialog your OBJECT selection goes away and all valid FACES are selected. "Marked objects" is grayed out because there aren't any. Open the replace function directly from the material panel rather than opening the face edit dialog.

Or, if you're only trying to retexture some faces on one brush, why not just open the texture dialog with nothing selected, select the faces in question, select the texture to change them to, and hit Apply? I'm not sure why you're going through all the other rigmarole.

Given his description, I assume all the brushes are in one object/entity, and there are lots™ of faces to change. Which is when replace really is faster.
