Why do displacements have to be squares :|

Triangles would be so useful, and octagonal (pentagonal, hexagonal, etc) displacements could create some interesting designs...

I have to agree they should be triangles somehow too, there's nothing more annoying than having to do weird brushwork just to get a way up to a different height.

When you're trying to select a bunch of textures at once and you accidentally double click one and the property box pops up

some idiot who worked on worldcraft or hammer thought it would be a good idea if window focus followed the mouse. oh how wrong they are.
There's actually a valid reason for that. They wanted to be able to WASD+arrowkeys your way around the 3D pane and select faces while the dialog box is open.

People look around with arrowkeys past the year 2000?

That aside yes you can keep the property window open while you wasd around because it's not a modal dialogue. window focus doesn't matter there.

Actually it does. Focus controls which window receives the keyboard input. This effectively decides if you move the 3D view, type text in the key values or use some keyboard shortcut that you didn't know existed.

Because middle-clicking on the viewport (or left clicking hammer's titlebar for that matter) when I'm done with the property window in order to give keyboard focus to the z hotkey is SO HARD. Because accidentally mousing outside of the property window while typing or starting to type NEVER HAPPENS.

Exactly, clicking on a different screen element is the normal way to change focus. Trying to guess based on which window the mouse cursor is currently over is not normal. And yes, it is annoying.

Aha there are many things that need you to restart hammer, but that is not one of them. I wonder how long it takes on average before we learn that. Certainly took me a while.

When only every other texture shows up the the texture browser, and I'm going to throw in for CS:GO whenever you test your map you need to restart hammer.

Accidentally toggling radial cordon. Who want's that shit? it makes it laggy as fuck, it uses BOTH my cameras and I don't even know how to change the damn radius.

i think the radius is or is a multiple of the 3d viewport draw distance, making it useless.
i'm amazed they didn't just make an automstic box cordon instead.
